The 55th Annual NAACP Southeast Region Civil Rights Advocacy Training
Institute’s Convention was held in Chattanooga Tennessee on March
8-11. Members of the Dothan Wiregrass Branch #5025 and the NAACP
Alabama State Conference attended along with other members from
all the Region 5 States (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, & Tennessee). The Dothan Wiregrass
Branch was well represented with 8 delegates attending the
convention. There were various speakers and classes that were very
exciting and motivational. The theme of the convention of operation
was “Moving from good to Great.” The chief financial officer, Mr.
Nelson B. Rivers III, delivered a dynamic speech; “One band; One
Sound”. The NAACP will stand strong together and get the job done.
The acting President and CEO, Mr. Dennis Hayes addressed the convention
with his agenda to keep the NAACP on track and moving forward. Classes
were held on education, health, civil engagement, and economics.
